It was a clinical performance from Dhananjaya, who hit the winning run. A good bowling performance from Sri Lanka’s bowlers at the back end of the first innings restricted Afghanistan’s score to below par. A slow start followed for the Asian champions.
At the halfway point, they were 63/2 after losing both of their openers to spin. During the drinks break, Dhananjaya upped the ante. The ball was knocked around with his feet, punished loose balls, and he used his feet well. Taking his team over the line with nine balls to spare, DDS hit a classy fifty off only 36 deliveries.
Mohammad Nabi: The first ball will be batted by us. The pitch has been used before. Runs should be put on the board as soon as possible. It’s all good. Only one person is missing: Zazai. Naib has arrived. It was a washout for the last two games. In the afternoon, the weather should be good. We get early wickets from Mujeeb.
Dasun Shanaka: It would have been a good idea for us to bat. One change needs to be made. The importance of bouncing back cannot be overstated. Our fielding is good. On the field, we need to boost our confidence. There is still time for us to win the competition.

Mohammad Nabi:
In the powerplay, we got off to a good start. It was hard for us to maintain momentum. Our goal was to post a good score. Towards the end, the wicket slowed down. They had too many chances to score because we gave them too many chances. No games have been played in the last 10 days, so we haven’t gained any momentum. Our next game is on Wednesday, and we hope to do well.

Dhananjaya de Silva:
Bat and ball played well together. It was a classy inning from DDS. A good T20 innings aren’t all about taking the bowlers on; it’s about timing one’s innings. I and Wanindu deserve credit. A good bowling performance was shown by the bowlers. The key is to continue to be consistent in the next game as well. It is out of our control what happens in the other games, but we are aiming to win our next game at a healthy rate, which will give us a good chance to qualify.

Srilanka Won By 6 Wickets
The winning runs were hit by Dhananjaya, who was clinical in his approach. As Afghanistan scored below par in the first innings, Sri Lanka’s bowlers did an excellent job containing them. As a response, the Asian champions struggled to get going. At halftime, they were 63/2 after losing both of their openers to spin.
Dhananjaya kept cool after the drinks break, turning the tables and upping the ante. The ball was knocked around and punished when he used his feet well. With nine balls to spare, DDS scored a classy fifty off 36 deliveries to get his team over the line.
Wanindu Hasaranga | Player of the Match:
Australia and New Zealand were our last two opponents. It was imperative that we played our best game. It makes me really happy. It was also a good bowling performance from Zampa in the last game. The pace here was varied. The batters had a great time in Perth. The game against Australia had been a bit of a challenge for me. However, I knew I would bounce back. There were big boundaries here to support me.
Afghan dreams of reaching the semifinals come to an end. For Sri Lanka to make it to the semifinals, plenty of things must go their way. In today’s second game at the Gabba, they’ll be rooting for the Kiwis. Keep an eye on New Zealand versus England in this high-octane match. Hope to see you there
