With Zimbabwe’s batting performance disappointing, their bowlers didn’t have much to work with, especially with the Netherlands’ top three giving them a strong start. Even though the Netherlands’ win may have been iffy due to some late wickets, they dominated the entire game. After low scores for some years, Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper both performed well at the World Cup.
Craig Ervine:
We will bat in the first innings. I think this is an excellent surface. There is sun out today. It won’t change much, I think. I’m looking forward to getting a decent score on the board and defending it. Having lost a cluster of wickets in the last two games, we’ve had a difficult start (with the bat). At a new venue, we need to assess the new conditions. There has been one change. Luke Jongwe replaces Bradley Evans. The last match against Bangladesh left him with a niggle.
Scott Edwards:
We were going to bowl (that’s what we were going to do). For the past few days, it has been undercover. As a result of Bas’ concussion, Logan has taken over for Pringle. Our tactical errors are probably going wrong. (Playing batting) We just made a few tactical mistakes. Unfortunately, we have not been able to build those partnerships. It’s our day today, so let’s get some runs in the middle order. There are still two games left, so we’re anticipating a good game against Zimbabwe.

There was a bit of a sticky feeling on the pitch at the beginning. Losing this toss will not bother you. We were under pressure from the Netherlands from the very beginning. There was a little pullout between Williams and me. The Netherlands deserves credit.

Max ODowd:
As quickly as possible, I tried to adapt to the wicket. Today’s wicket had a bit more pace. It took me too long to adjust to the extra bounce since Zimbabwe has some tall boys. By the end, I had learned how to use the pace and bounce to my advantage. The wicket moved a bit more when we bowled. The bounce of the wicket felt good when I went out. Our luck was pretty good, I guess.

Netherlands Won By 5 Wickets
Although the Netherlands stumbled at the end, it was a convincing win for them. In the end, Zimbabwe batted poorly and scored 20-25 runs less than they could have. The Netherlands did a fantastic job using the new ball when they bowled. Every time a dot appears, a wicket falls. Despite their efforts, Raza and Williams could not finish the job. The former scored a fifty after ODowd and Cooper absorbed pressure to lay the foundation. They might have been able to push the Netherlands all the way if they had scored 15-20 more points.
