After doing what was required of them today, Pakistan can hope against hope for a miracle. The Australians have continued their perfect record against the Proteas at T20 World Cups by taking down the mighty South Africans. What a stunning turnaround after being 43/4 at the end of the innings. 82 runs were scored off 35 balls by Iftikhar Ahmad and Shadab Khan in a brilliant counterattack.
Then, just before the rain break, Shadab used the ball to turn things around, getting rid of Bavuma and Markram in three balls. When overs were reduced, South Africa found itself facing a steep equation. Naseem and Wasim were excellent death bowlers, so the task was nearly impossible.
Babar Azam – It’s time to bat. Set up runs for the team and then put pressure on them in the chase. After giving our best, we will move forward. Harris replaces Fakhar, and Fakhar misses out.
Temba Bavuma – Our first choice would have been to bat first, but there is some green there. It’s an advantage to bat first, but we must keep their score low and chase them well. Our excellent team and we have gained a lot of confidence and support from them. The first change is forced, as Miller is out with an injury, and Klaasen takes his place. Shamsi has replaced Keshav Maharaj.

Shadab Khan:
It’s my best batting innings in a World Cup match, but I’ve played (batted) like this in PSL. Compared to Perth, the pitch was a bit slower. The effort paid off when I bowled at the stumps. Although I prefer to bat higher up the order, I am open to batting anywhere according to the situation and team needs.

Temba Bavuma:
Our bowling session ended quite disappointing. We are quickly getting them to a formidable score by getting them 5 down. There are many questions we need to ask. They deserve credit. We knew the weather would pose a few challenges. While I am not a bowler, I know that bowlers practice under these conditions. Slower balls were not gripping the wicket as the wicket was sliding on. It would have been better if we had used the more prominent side. We will play the Netherlands in Adelaide in our next game, which is an important one. Take whatever learnings we can from this and put it behind us as quickly as possible.
Pakistan Won By 33 Runs
This Pakistani team displayed excellent performance with the bat, with the ball, and on the field during the 36th match of the T20 World Cup 2022. It was Babar’s men who consistently picked up wickets throughout the innings. As a batsman and as a ballplayer, Shadab Khan was excellent today. He turned both innings. Temba Bavuma, 36 (19), and Aiden Markram, 20(14), are in good form, and the leg-spinner took two crucial wickets in the ninth over.
After the rain break resulted in a lower DLS score required of the team, when Pakistan batted earlier, they were on 47/4. A 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Iftikhar Ahmed 51(35) and Muhammad Nawaz 28(22) steadied the ship. In just 35 balls, Shadab Khan and Iftikhar put on 81 runs for the sixth wicket against the South African bowling. Additionally, the proteas kept failing to take advantage of their chances.
The Pakistani team continues to do remarkable things, going down to Zimbabwe one day and thrashing South Africa the next. The NRR gap to South Africa has also been significantly bridged as they’ve done what they could today. South Africa and the Netherlands would love for it to rain during their match, but the forecast in Adelaide is looking pretty good right now. The Dutch will probably need to do something historic. For now, that’s all I have to say. It was a pleasure covering your story. I’ll see you next time!
